Civic body, state govt were recently pulled up by the Bombay high court.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started a departmental inquiry against the 13 employees allegedly involved in the Kothrud transfer of development rights (TDR) scam.
The Bombay high court recently pulled up the state government and the PMC for not initiating the inquiry against the officers, following which the PMC began the process.
The high court also asked the state government and the PMC to submit affidavits for not initiating the inquiry by December 23, the next date of hearing. The high court issued the order while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) by president of Nagrik Chetana Manch, Maj Gen (retd) SCN Jatar.
The TDR scam rocked the city in October 2005. The PMC was allegedly duped of Rs14 crore by two property owners and their agent, who procured the TDR for a plot in Kothrud that had already been acquired and paid for by the civic body.
A PMC official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the civic body had issued the notices to the employees allegedly involved regarding the
departmental inquiry.
