Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) emptied bottles of water on the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) water supply officer, VG Kulkarni on Friday to protest against water cuts. The party members barged into the cabin of the officer, shouting slogans against water cuts. They demanded to know the reasons for the water cut from the officer. They said Puneites wanted to know the stand of the PMC on the water cut. The agitation was led by deputy chief of city MNS unit, Ajay Shinde. “Municipal commissioner, Mahesh Pathak has assured us of action and letting us know in writing what was being done to provide sufficient water,” said Shinde. Water was provided in large amounts to Indapur and Baramati during the zilla parishad elections, he claimed. The corporation should have opposed it, but the PMC did not take action and is now subjecting people to water cuts, he added. Kulkarni has given a letter to the MNS that the  PMC would be urging the irrigation department for support to provide enough water to the city.
