The PCMC has finalised the number of corporators in different areas based on the 2011 census. It has forwarded the findings to the state election commission.

The number of corporators in Bhosari would increase from 15 to 18. In Akurdi, the number would go up from 8 to 14 and in Pimple Gurav, from 2 to 4.

According to PCMC officials, the restructuring of wards and 50% reservation of seats for women in the polls will change the election scenario. “Next year’s municipal election will be held according to the 2011 census, as stated by the state election commission earlier,” the civic officials added.

The civic officials said that with the restructuring of wards, their boundaries will also change. The new boundaries will be declared on August 24 at Ramkrishna More auditorium in Chinchwad.

“The maps depicting the wards will be distributed on that day,” the officials said.
