It would be used for planning the developmental works under the Jawaharlal Nehru national urban renewal mission (JNNURM) over the next 5 years.

Neelkanth Poman, computer officer and coordinator for JNNURM in the PCMC, told DNA, “We had recently received the guidelines from the Union government to prepare the CDP. According to it, the CDP policy committee and a technical committee will have to be constituted.”

The mayor will head the policy committee and the technical committee will work under the policy committee and coordinate with all other stakeholders.

Citizens, elected representatives and stakeholders will be involved in the making of the CDP, for which a workshop will be organised, Poman said.

The CDP will focus on water supply, sewage and sanitation, storm water drainage, solid waste management, comprehensive mobility plan, housing and basic services for urban poor, preservation and rejuvenation of water bodies, urban environment, cultural heritage conservation, local economic development, disaster prevention and management plans.

A city-level financial plan has to be created to improve the city’s fiscal and service level position each year over the next 5 years. Once the CDP draft is prepared, suggestions and objections will be called from citizens and stakeholders.
