After rumours started doing the rounds that post Mudabbir's arrest, his parents and sister had gone missing, dna managed to track them down to their Nalasopara home, where they said they haven't had any contact with their son or his wife or her parents.

Well educated and polite, Mushtaq Shaikh, who used to work in the Gulf, talked about his son's background in their 3BHK flat in Ami Park. Mudabbir's mother Farida, on the other hand, who is a teacher, was in no mood to even remember her son after he left them and shifted to Mumbra.

Mudabbir used to live with his father, mother and younger sister along with his wife. He wanted his father and sister to leave and would have regular arguments on the issue with them. When they refused to, he and his wife left and shifted to Mumbra. The Shaikhs said they were not aware about his involvement with the terror outfit and found out about it after the security agencies told them.

"We only came to know about his arrest after a couple of days as we have had no contact with his in-laws nor with him. We have disowned him and don't him back if he has done all those wrong things which our religion doesn't permit," said Mushtaq.

"Neither the security agencies nor the police contacted us about him and we too never bothered about him or his whereabouts after he left. He used to work on his computer when he stayed here, but we wouldn't poke around or ask him what he was doing."

Security agency officers suspect that Mudabbir may have leaned towards terror outfits due to lack of emotional support. "He was weak mentally and was not doing well in life when he chose to spread the word of terrorism and indulged in brainwashing youths," said an officer.
