The Social Service Branch (SSB) of the city crime branch, after having received information about a few people being involved in gambling at Aarey Colony, were left stunned when they conducted a raid. The club was situated in the jungles of Aarey Colony and some of the gamblers caught were wives of businessmen from western suburbs.

According to inspector Nitin Yadav of SSB, the branch received information that gambling was taking place at a house and large sums of cash were being wagered. "The team were stunned to know that the gambling den was situated in the jungles near Jivacha Pada in Aarey Colony at Goregaon (E)," said Yadav.

The police arrested 14 persons including three jockeys, seven male and three female players. A case has been registered under the Gambling Act with the Aarey police station. The police also seized cash of Rs3,06,000 from the spot.

"Some of them are women from affluent families, whose husbands are businessmen in western suburbs. We are on the lookout for Pratap Tambe, Bharat Anna and Ujjwal, who were instrumental in running this den," said an SSB officer, requesting anonymity.
