Oshiwara raid: Hunt on for more pimps

The Oshiwara police is investigating the sex racket which was operating in a flat of high profile building in Meera Tower at Oshiwara where around 70 IAS and IPS officers owned flats.

After this raid, scared society members are planning to conduct a meeting with all the members to ensure such activity doesn’t take place within the premises.

The police caught five aspiring actors and television serials models and arrested three pimps on Thursday night, after sending in a decoy customer following a tip off.

The police officers said, “The other pimps in the area who were involved in the flesh trade left soon after the raid. During the investigation we found that few pimps even changed their mobile number so the police could not trace them”. Police are questioning to pimps for information on other pimps on the area.
The officer added that during the investigation, police found that the racket had been going on for the past three to four months and around ten girls were involved. 

The pimps were running a high-profile sex racket in the flat number 1402 in the B-wing of Meera Tower that belongs to one Shruti Mantri who is the wife of a steel businessman and lives in Lokhandwala. They had rented the flat to a Pune-based businessman. “We received information about illicit activities in the flat which is operated by pimps so we contacted one of the pimps and sent a policemen posing as a customer. After negotiation, he agreed to provide a girl to the decoy for Rs5,000,” said the officer.

Police arrested three pimps under relevant sections of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). The girls have been sent to the shelter home.

“The girls rescued are aged between 22 and 25 years and most have done acting in the television,” said police inspector, B Mukhedkar of Oshiwara police station.
