Nawab Malik, the NCP spokesperson said that under IPC Section 304, culpable homicide case should be lodged against the director general of ESIC Kamgar hospital immediately.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday demanded registration of the culpable homicide case against the Director General of ESIC Kamgar hospital who is allegedly responsible for the tragedy.
Nawab Malik, the NCP spokesperson said that under IPC Section 304, culpable homicide case should be lodged against the director general of ESIC Kamgar hospital immediately. He said that after the Bhopal Gas tragedy in 1984, the law was amended so that whenever there is such an incident, the director of that firm/hospital is held responsible. "CM Devendra Fadnavis had ordered an inquiry in this incident.
However, it is crystal clear that the director of the hospital is solely responsible. He should be arrested and charged under IPC 304 (culpable homicide). If the government is not doing this, then it shows that they are trying to shield the culprit of this incident," alleged Malik.
While city Congress unit president Sanjay Nirupam said, "The government must fix the responsibility and book the culprit. The number of fire-related accidents across Mumbai has increased drastically in the last few years. The main reason behind this rise in fire incident is the fire rules norms are not followed and implemented properly."
