Two cases of molestation were reported in Thane commissionerate on Monday – one at Manpada (Dombivli) and the other Vitthalwadi (Ulhasnagar).

In the first incident at, the victim works as a computer operator at Sonarpada. She was allegedly molested by the watchman at the same firm, Ashok Gupta, 34. According to the victim's statement, the accused tried to be friends with her and even proposed marriage, but she ignored him and warned him as well. "But the accused kept harassing her. So, he followed her after work and tried to molest her," an officer said.

"We have arrested the accused and he will remain in magistrate custody. Further probe is on. He has been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code," he added.

In the second case, a 16-year-old, who was playing near her home in Raghunath Nagar, Vitthalwadi, around 3pm was approached by her neighbour, Sunil Joshi 34.

A laborer, Joshi called the minor home and told her that he has brought one new torch light which he wanted to show her. But he started touching the girl inappropriately. "The victim told her elder sister about the incident and a complaint was registered.

An official from Vitthalwadi police station said, "We have booked the accused under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced in court."
