The National Security Guard (NSG) and Force One have been put on alert following information that four terrorists had infiltrated into the city to carry out terror strikes during the festive season.
Joint police commissioner, Law and Order, Rajnish Seth, said, “Security officials have been deployed in areas where there is a security threat. We will also deploy battalions of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF). Forces will be deployed in all areas where heavy crowds are expected.”
Special cells, the state CID, and the state intelligence have launched a search operation for the terrorists.
The local police are checking hotels, lodges and boarding houses. Hoteliers have been asked to make background checks of people renting out rooms.
They have been asked to report to the police immediately if they see any suspicious movement. The police are also contacting mohalla committees, asking them to report if they see any new person in the locality.
Security agencies have prepared a list of highly sensitive areas which could be targetted. Arrangements are also being made at malls and other places. The Coast Guard and navy will also maintain surveillance using patrol vessels and helicopters.
