Now, college wants all parents to visit faculty often

After college student, Siddhant Ganore, son of police inspector Dnyaneshwar Ganore, allegedly killed his mother at their Vakola residence, the RD National College, where he studied, will now make it mandatory for parents to visit the faculty members thrice in a semester to take stock of their ward's academic development.

Deepali Ganore, a law graduate, was found killed at their residence last week. A message — 'Tired of her, catch me and hang me' was written beside her body on the floor. Her son, Siddhant, was remanded into police custody.

Siddhant was pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree from RD National College in Bandra and was failing in the examinations.

After Deepali coaxed him to produce his mark sheets and told him to meet his college faculty regarding the results, it triggered the alleged killing. Siddhant allegedly stabbed his mother around 12 times on her neck.

The results of his examinations were declared on May 15, and the mark sheets were distributed on May 18 by the examination cell of the college. The college authorities revealed that Siddhant had failed to collect his mark sheets. Dinesh Panjwani, Principal of RD National College confirmed the incident and said, "We will now be making it mandatory for the students to ensure their parents visit college faculty thrice a semester. Instead of us calling the parents in order to share the academic development of their ward, the parents should be pro-active in knowing about the whereabouts of the wards in their academic career."
