The Maharashtra government ordered the shutting down of liquor shops from Bandra to Worli for two days on occasion of the Dr Ambedkar's death anniversary events at Shivaji Park on December 6. Guardian minister of the city Jayant Patil said on Tuesday that the shops will be ordered to be shut on December 5th and 6th. Patil said that to maintain decorum and law and order, the government has decided to keep the shops shut on two days. He said that announcing the dry day would not have served the purpose and hence the decision of shutting shops has been taken.Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also has been directed to take samples of the food distributed by various  NGOs to the followers gathering at Chaityabhoomi. Minister of state for FDA Satej Patil said that his department will take a litmus test of the foods served on Chaityabhoomi to avoid untoward incidents. Hundreds of NGOs distribute food to lakhs of followers free of charge. City police also have been directed to instal maximum number of CCTV cameras on the stretch from Dadar station to Shivaji Park.  Nagsen Kamble of the Chaityabhoomi co-ordination said that government has allowed the offering of tribute to Dr Ambedkar by showering flowers from helicopters.
