The court in its orders held, "The offence is serious and committed against the society at large. Moreover, 53 UK citizens have been allegedly cheated by misusing their credit card details. Needless to say that the image of our country is going to lower down at an international level due to this crime. To misuse confidential data for personal benefit is serious. The applicant is not a permanent resident of Mumbai but hails from Rajasthan, the possibility of committing similar crimes at different places cannot be ruled out. Thus considering the nature of the offence, I am reluctant to release him on bail."

The Bangur Nagar police arrested Imran Chauhan, who was residing in Vikhroli, after a UK national filed a complaint against him. According to the prosecution, the accused was working with a Malad-based call center, Intelnet, and allegedly misused the credit card details of 53 UK citizens and cheated them to the tune of Rs 18,33,504.
