Maharashtra government has prepared a policy to permit occupants of flats allotted under government schemes to transfer ownership by paying transfer charges to the state.

According to the notification, the government gets flats developed under its various schemes and they are subsequently allotted to people under various categories. "Most of these people had complained to the government that they were unable to sell these flats due to the stringent rules. Sometime people are in dire need of money for education and medical purposes so selling their properties is the only option for them," stated in the notification.

"To make transfers easy, we have prepared a policy of transferring ownership rights of these flats allotted by the government. The occupants of these flats should seek permission from the respective district collector first andpay the transfer charges to sell or change the ownership of the flats," says the notification.
