The fire brigade was pushed to bring out new norms for shooting studios after drawing flak following the Kanjurmarg Cinevista studio fire that left one dead
All shooting studios across the city will have a adhere to a slew of guidelines that are likely to be made public next week. They include the use of non-combustible decoration material, mandatory electrical audit and use of fire retardant paint, DNA has learnt.
The fire brigade was pushed to bring out new norms for shooting studios after drawing flak following the Kanjurmarg Cinevista studio fire that left one dead. The city has 103 shooting studios, including 28 in Goregaon Film city.
"All the shooting studios in Mumbai will have to follow the new fire safety guidelines. In Cinevista fire it was found that the fire started due to a short circuit at a height but water could not reach that high and the fire escalated", said Chief Fire Officer PS Rahangdale. The report into the Cinevista fire was recently submitted to the top officer.
The no objection certificate from the fire department will be renewed only after an inspection by officials under the new rules.
