Instead of going on defensive, they have decided to corner the Congress on both home and finance portfolios which are held by their ministers P Chidambaram and Pranab Mukherjee, respectively. NCP leader Chaggan Bhujbal said, “How is Pawar responsible for price rise. He is holding portfolio of agriculture. The ministry of food and civil supplies has been relinquished long ago. His concern is related to production of food grains and farmers’ welfare.”

The party without naming its ally said,”What needs to be asked is why was Harvinder Singh who had attacked Sukh Ram and Suresh Kalmadi allowed at the NDMC venue.”  Speaker of the state assembly Dilip Walse-Patil said, “What was the security doing when a Union minister was attacked?”

The political leadership in the state have trained guns on Centre for the security lapse. Shiv Sena MP Bharatkumar Raut said, “The incident has exposed Delhi’s security.”
