NCP President Sharad Pawar will hold a drought conference on Saturday in Mumbai to discuss the drought situation in the state with his party colleagues. Senior NCP leaders and district presidents along with all the candidates for Lok Sabha elections are expected to attend this half day conference in the city on Saturday.

Pawar is also likely to review the political situation in the state in the backdrop of the ongoing alliance with the Congress party. He is expected to take a pulse of whether the party should continue the alliance with the Congress from the district presidents ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

The state is expected to go for Assembly elections soon after the rains get over around October. The role of the party president and the party's role in national politics after the election outcome is also likely to be discussed in the meeting.

NCP President Pawar will review the drought situation by speaking to every district president in the conference. He is also expected to reach out to farmers in the next one and half months as the drought is expected to aggravate in the coming days. He is also expected to urge senior leaders of his party to visit various drought affected areas to mobilize public opinion against the incumbent government.

The monsoon budget session of the state assembly will commence from June 17th. The February session only presented vote on account since Lok Sabha polls were due. However, the upcoming monsoon session will be the last one of the incumbent Devendra Fadnavis Government. Hence, as a principle opposition party NCP will chalk out a strategy for the next three to four months to corner the Fadnavis government on the issue of drought mitigation and farmer distress in the state.
