Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), on Monday, released its manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a slew of promises including complete loan waiver to farmers, structural reforms to drive sustainable agriculture growth, 33 per cent reservation for women in the parliament, scrapping of Triple Talaq ordinance in the present form, meaningful labour reforms to promote ease of doing business and attract new investments and removal of policy and tax uncertainties.

The NCP said that if voted to power, it will open talks with Pakistan to emphasie on discussions about terrorism. Besides, the party said it will keep all channels open to China, and press for opening its market to exports of pharmaceuticals, agriculture products, and IT services from India. Both these promises come close on the heels of the Pulwama attack on CRPF jawans and mounting pressure on the government to not hold talks with Pakistan. The government has expressed displeasure over China's move to block India's bid to designate Pakistan-based JeM chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN.

Besides, the NCP has assured Equal Work Equal Pay to all employees, establishment of Equal Opportunities Commission, enactment of a law ensuring Right to Health and implementation of a single GST rate or maximum of two rates. For graduate youth, the party has proposed 100-day guaranteed jobs in urban areas.

The manifesto committee chairman and senior NCP legislator Dilip Walse Patil said the country is at crossroads and there is growing anxiety and frustration over five years of colossal waste of opportunities. " The NDA government has betrayed the nation, misused institutions, and constitutional bodes. It has failed on all fronts. The NCP with all coalition partners is therefore resolved to protect the nation by providing due attention on restoring stability of democratic institutions,'' he noted. He informed that the party has laid emphasis on further empowerment of farmers, women, and the youth.

The NCP has promised a white paper on present state of unemployment as the party has observed that demonetisation has drastically slowed down economic growth and impacted GDP significantly. It has resulted in loss of 1.80 crore jobs after November 2016. Further, the party has proposed that cases of violence against minorities will be investigated in a time bound manner.

The NCP will focus on pre-primary education. As far as higher education is concerned, the party has promised formation of a consortium of universities by interlinking them digitally to share and universalise knowledge and teaching.

Wasle Patil argued that the NCP can tackle the present difficult and complex challenges with its experienced and visionary leadership.
