NCP men go berserk, attack BMC’s ward office
Kurla police arrested 26 NCP workers, of them 19 women, in a rioting case after they created ruckus at the BMC’s L-ward office in Kurla.
The Kurla police on Friday arrested 26 NCP workers, of them 19 women, in a rioting case after they created ruckus at the BMC’s L-ward office in Kurla. The arrested are all residents of the Kasaiwada area of Kurla (East), which has been witnessing acute water shortage for the past few days. They were all released on a bail bond of Rs3,000 per person, said assistant police commissioner (Kurla division) Prabhakar Satam.
The NCP workers not only manhandled the junior engineer at the ward office, but also damaged furniture. Assistant commissioner Harshad Kale of L-ward said, “Initially, only a handful of people came to meet the junior engineer, but soon they were joined by the others. After they manhandled and attacked the junior engineer and broke the furniture, we registered a complaint with police, asking senior officials to take a serious note of it.”
While confirming the water shortage in the Kasaiwada area for the past few days, the L-ward officials said that the water supply officials, apart from visiting the area earlier in te week, are working towards a solution.
