Narcotics Control Bureau officers raided a farmhouse at Kinavli village in Murbad taluka of Thane district and seized 290kg of a raw material used to make drugs. The worth of the haul was estimated at Rs40 lakh.

Officers from Delhi and Mumbai raided the farmhouse with the local police and recovered eight sacks of pseudo-ephidrine powder and some packets of Kamagra tablets.

The farmhouse owner was arrested along with two others, including a Singaporean. Another Singaporean and a Mexican were picked up in Mumbai.

Late on Wednesday evening, a metropolitan magistrate’s court remanded the five accused in judicial custody for 24 hours.

The accused were identified as Shane Alam aka Shahnawaz Khan, Rosli bin Mohammad (Singaporean), Rafael Palafox Garcia (Mexican), Pravin Nivas Patil, and Sheikh Kadir Tahib Tajudeen (Singaporean).

Anil Lalla, advocate for the accused, said his clients were illegally detained from Monday and beaten in an attempt to get them to confess to a crime they had not committed.
