Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Wednesday registered a bribery case against a 37-year-old female clerk working at the office of Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate. The government service employee had allegedly demanded bribe from a police constable to clear his bills, officials said.
The accused woman has been identified as Meenaxi Khobragade who works in the Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner office in Belapur.
According to the ACB, complainant's constable's father had undergone a medical operation and the constable had availed the Maharashtra Police Kutumb Arogya Yojana (MPKAY).
"In order to send the bill of MPKAY to the treasury department for sanctioning, Khobragade had demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000 from the 30-year-old constable," said an official from ACB's Navi Mumbai Unit.
The constable did not wish to pay the bribe and in turn approached the ACB in October to register a bribery case against Khobragade, the official added.
"After the allegations made by the constable were found to be true, ACB registered a case against Khobragade on Wednesday. We will take necessary action in the matter," said the official.
