The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to avert the exodus of leaders joining hands with other parties, has decided to overhaul its structure by bringing new and fresh leadership in party.

Sources in NCP said that the most of the appointee are made by the NCP supremo Sharad Pawar's daughter and Baramati MP Supriya Sule. "NCP Mumbai unit President Sachin Ahir and NCP state women wing president Chitra Wagh who recently left the party are close to Supriya Sule and state NCP president Jayant Patil. After the Lok Sabha debacle, there were demands to sack these leaders citing accountability, but the party state president protected them. Now, the party is facing the bigger embarrassment due to these power hungry leaders," said senior NCP leader.

Ajit Pawar, senior NCP leader hinted that the NCP needs an overhaul and the fresh faces need to be brought in party. He said that the party will give the big responsibility to NCP MP and Dr Amol Kolhe in the state assembly polls. "NCP state president Jayant Patil may be replaced with Dr Amol Kolhe or Kolhe may be made the working president. The NCP need the fresh face that can pull the crowd and bring back the eroding vote bank. After demise of RR Patil, NCP lost the common man face in party. That resulted into the consecutive losses in the elections. Dr Amol Kolhe can fill that vacuum," said source close to Ajit Pawar.

Sources also said that the NCP MLA Jitendra Ahwad has been also given the major responsibility ahead of the state polls. "The NCP has decided to focus on the OBC faces like Dr Amol Kolhe and Jitendra Ahwad. Beside, the leaders who are committed to secular ideology will be given the prominence rather than the power hungry politicians in party. Therefore, the NCP will have to undertake the major surgery ahead of state polls," sources added.
