Nashik recorded its coldest day this season when the mercury dipped to 5.9 degrees Celsius on Monday.
The maximum temperature hovered around 26 degrees. Last year’s lowest temperature for the city was 7.8 degrees.
The low temperature during the day was accompanied by cold winds. Farmers said the severe cold will affect crops like grapes, vegetables and tomatoes.
“If the mercury drops further, we will have to provide heat to these crops by lighting bonfires in the fields,” Suresh and Sudam Bhoj, farmers in Chandori, in Nashik district told DNA on Monday.
