The campaign by RSS-affiliated Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) to reach out to Muslims for a Ram Temple at Ayodhya has made minority politicians see red. "These people are not Muslims. They are not ashamed that our masjid was demolished at the site. The case before the Supreme Court is a title suit and it is not proper to launch such a campaign when the issue is sub-judice. This is ignorance of the law. Let them approach SC and intervene in the case," said Waris Pathan, All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA and lawyer.

"At this juncture, even Muslims should not demand construction of a masjid at the site, but instead say they will respect the SC's decision as it is the final arbiter in this country. After the judgement, all communities must abide by it and put past animosities behind them," said Abu Asim Azmi, MLA and Maharashtra and Mumbai president of the Samajwadi Party.

However, Virag Pachpore, RSS functionary and national convenor of the MRM, had a different standpoint. "The Muslims in India are indigenous, even if they have accepted Islam centuries ago. Their ancestors, traditions, and culture have not changed. Allama Iqbal, who supported the creation of Pakistan, called Lord Ram Imam-e-Hind. No one opposed him then. The MRM had earlier conducted a conclave in Delhi last year attended by over 2,000 Muslims across the country for the Ram Temple," he explained.

"At a time when SC is hearing the title suit, this Jan Jagran by the MRM will convey that a large section of the Muslim community is in favour of the Ram Temple," added Pachpore.

Irfan Ali Peerzade, national convenor, MRM, too stressed on the need for a Ram Temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya.BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said the MRM was trying to mould opinion through different mediums in the Muslim community for the Ram Temple. "Even the BJP manifesto says that the Ram Mandir must be constructed through a consensus. So, it also includes the Muslim community. The MRM is doing good work regarding this," he added.
