Male corporators have fared better than their woman counterparts overall this year, although the top three ranks have all gone to women. The Praja Foundation's report card has said the three best performing corporators in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are Kishori Pednekar, Sweta Korgaonkar and Priti Satam.

Pednekar, a Shiv Sena corporator from Adarsh Nagar in Worli under the G South ward, scored 81.59 points. She raised 51 questions between March 2017 and March 2018, and she also attended the most number of meetings. Citizens surveyed found her to be easily accessible.

Pednekar said it's her hard and work and remaining accessible to all that have ensured she finished top. "I could do this because of my hard work, by being accessible to everybody, and because I received a lot of support. People know that if they approach me, I'll help resolve their issues. I try to help them out even when the problem isn't BMC-related," she said.

Like her, Korgaonkar, the Congress corporator from MHB Colony in Borivali (West), also attended all the important BMC meetings. She scored 13.18 out of 15 for attending meetings, and 15.52 points out of 18 for asking important questions. She also remained accessible, scoring 4.02 out of 5 on this front, to finish with an overall score of 79.22.

In third place was BJP corporator Priti Satam from Goregaon (West) with 79.12 points. She too was very punctual in attending civic meetings and raising citizen-related issues, scoring 13.23 and 15.87 on these counts respectively. On accessibility, she scored 3.65 out of 5.

"The top three positions have been attained by women, and this is definitely an achievement and the way forward for the city," said Milind Mhaske, director, Praja Foundation.
