Mumbai: Two held for selling country pistols in Meghwadi

The Meghwadi police arrested two people for allegedly possessing country pistols, on Saturday. The accused Raju Tiwari (38) and Jagdish Jadhav (38) were caught red-handed by the cops who raided the place on the basis of credible information. According to the police, informers had given a tipoff about the duo who were planning to come to sell the pistols which they had to other locals in the area who demanded it. When the senior police officer of Meghwadi police station Jagdev Kalapad took serious cognisance of the matter, he along with Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) officers of the police station raided the place and caught the duo. "After getting the information and taking the consent of the senior officers, two teams were formed and instructions were given to each of the officers accordingly. After spotting the accused duo near Shivajinagar at Jogeshwari, they were searched and then the pistols were seized from them. As of now, a case has been registered under section 3 and 25 of the Indian Arms Act and section 37(1) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Total four country pistols and 8 live cartridges have been seized after the operation," said Kalapad.
