Mumbai: Two booked for stalking woman, extortion bid

The Khar police have booked two men for allegedly trying to extort and stalking a 32-year-old woman. The accused duo have been identified as Yusuf Shaikh alias Chirag and Tryatik Jadhav. According to the complainant, the duo had posted lewd pictures of her on internet. They later demanded Rs 1 crore to stop posting such pictures in future.

According to the police, the victim who is working with a health care foundation started receiving absurd messages on her social media platforms. "The victim first chose to ignore those messages but later the accused sent her a video link where the duo had morphed her photo in a pornographic movie. Following the video link, the accused began sending her messages demanding the extortion money," said the investigating police officer. The harassment didn't end there.

"They also threatened her by claiming that they were aides of gangster Dawood Ibrahim. The series of threats and extortion calls were going on from December 5 to December 23. It is then that the victim decided to lodge a police complaint," informed the police officer.
