It was an important day for twins Nathan and Haydan Cardoso on Saturday as they appeared for their first SSC exam paper. What sets them apart is that both are suffering from cerebral palsy., but they did not let their indisposition come in the way of exams.

Both, students of St. Blaise High School, Andheri appeared for the paper without taking any writers help. Clayton, their father who was present at the centre to encourage the kids said that the twins suffered from the ailment since birth, but have been fighting it strong. "The teachers not only helped my children in academics, but they also installed a lift for them, so that they didn't have to climb the stairs. They also provided them with separate comfortable toilets for them in school," said Clayton.

The board too allowed the students appear for the exam at their own school, that is five minutes from the residence.

When asked why they did not opt for writers for the board exam, Hayden said, "It is better to write your own paper rather than someone else do that for you." While both get tutored privately at home, learning from each other is also something both look forward to. "We requested the school to allow them to always sit on first bench, so that they don't get distracted. From Class 1 till 8 they always sat together. In class 9 we separated them just to see whether they can do things independently," added Clayton.
