Mumbai: Traffic restrictions set for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's 62nd death anniversary

Vehicular traffic restrictions and parking restrictions on either side of the roads will remain enforced from 11 am on Wednesday until 12 am on December 7.

The Mumbai Traffic Police has issued traffic restrictions and diversions on the occasion of "Mahaparinirvan Din", which is on December 6. The day marks the 62nd death anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

"A large number of followers of Dr Ambedkar visit Chaityabhoomi at Dadar, on December 6 of every year. Followers would start congregating in the city from Wednesday and will reamin until December 7. With regard to this congregation — that takes place on quite a large scale — at and around Shivaji Park, the movement of vehicular traffic is to be restricted," said a traffic police officer.

Vehicular traffic restrictions and parking restrictions on either side of the roads will remain enforced from 11 am on Wednesday until 12 am on December 7. The restrictions will be applicable on S Veer Savarkar Road, Ranade Road, NC Kelkar Road, Keluskar Road (south & north), Gokhale Road (south & north), Tilak Bridge, SK Bole Road and the Bhavani Shankar Road.

Parking can be done by motorists at Senapati Bapat Marg, Mahim, Dadar, Kamgar Stadium, India Bulls Finance Centre at Prabhadevi, Adarsh Nagar Sports Ground at Worli, periphery of Five Gardens at Matunga, Reti Bunder at Mahim, Lakhamshi Nappu Road at Matunga and RAK Road.

"In view of the restrictions, motorists are advised to plan their travel beforehand to avoid unnecessary delay. Motorists are further advised to use Senapati Bapat Marg, NM Joshi Marg and Dr BA Road. Motorists are also advised to use the Bandra-Worli Sea Link to move towards suburbs and while travelling to the city to avoid congestion and inconvenience," the officer said.

The SK Bole Road will become one-way from the Siddhivinayak Junction up to the Hanuman Temple. The Bhavani Shankar Road will become one-way from the Hanuman Temple or Dadar Kabutarkhana up to its junction.
