The day began with the auspicious Anjali (arati). The dhunuchi nach during the arati was another momentous celebration the devotees indulged in. And thereafter, the general Bhog — khichdi, sabzi, meethi chutney and the famed Bengali Payesh (a variant of kheer) — was relished by thousands.

Evening brought with it an array of stalls offering Bengali cuisine and artifacts. Be it is the fish and chicken chops, the nawabi moghlai paratha, the delectable mishti doi or rajbhog, the stalls had it all.

The celebration at Kallol Kali Mandir premises in Bangur Nagar, Goregaon, was quite the melting pot of cultures with the number of people from other backgrounds and religions attending being high as well.

The festivities will go on till Saturday.
