Sahar police on Friday arrested a 37-year-old Swedish national for allegedly molesting a woman inside a plush five-star hotel. The 42-year-old victim had arrived from Singapore for a business tour. The act was caught on hotel's CCTV camera, which helped the police to identify the accused and later arrest him.
The arrested foreign national has been identified as Hackan David Carlson.
According to the police, complainant is an Indian-origin woman and works in Singapore. She had come to Mumbai for a business tour on March 5. She had checked-in a plush five star hotel situated at Andheri-Kurla Road.
"As per the victim, she had checked-out of the hotel on Friday and was waiting in the hotel's reception area. At 7.15 am, a man approached the victim making obscene gestures at her and molested her. The accused fled after the incident," said an officer from Sahar police station.
The victim then informed the police about the incident.
"We went to the hotel after the victim approached us and checked the CCTV footage of the reception area. The crime was recorded on the camera after which we registered an offence in the matter. On making inquiries with the hotel staff, we identified the suspect as he was staying in the same hotel," the officer said.
