Mumbai's 'richest' Ganpati insured for Rs 266.65 crore

Goud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) Seva Mandal, King Circle, which is considered to be the city's one of the wealthiest Ganpati pandals has taken an insurance cover of Rs 266.65 crore this year.In 2017 and 2018 the mandal had an insurance cover of Rs 264.25 crore and 265 crore respectively.The mandal has even taken care of its devotees as every visitor will have total coverage of Rs 20 crore.GSB Seva Mandal has received its highest-ever insurance cover for its pandal, idol, ornaments, volunteers, and workers too.The insurance covers all form of attacks including those caused by terrorists or riots.Even the fruits, vegetables and grocery have been covered along with 2,200 plus workers/volunteers. Personal accident cover for volunteers and others is for Rs 224.90 crore, which forms the biggest part of the total insurance money.This Mandal celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi for five days and thus it is secured with an insurance of Rs 53.33 crore for each day.The insurance includes special perils like fire, burglary, theft, accidental damages, external damages and terrorism for gold and ornaments.

For this, the mandal is insured for Rs 20.4 crore.The pandal, which includes CCTV cameras, furniture, fixtures, and computers is covered for mishaps like fire, natural calamities, riots, strike, rail or road damages, electrical damage, earthquakes with an amount of Rs 1.35 crore.The insurance starts on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi and ends only after the immersion and jewels belonging to the idol reach the safe deposit.R G Bhat, Trustee of GSB Seva Mandal, King Circle, confirmed the details. The insurance is carried out by the mandal with a Public Sector Unit.Mumbai's one of the biggest festival, Ganesh Chaturthi begins from Monday and will last for the next 10 days.The whole city celebrates the Ganpati festival where devotees throng pandals and serpentine queues can be seen outside most of the pandals.GSB Seval Mandal, King Circle is also known for its regular puja and havans that is carried out at the Ganesh pandal.
