Mumbai's Lalbaugcha Raja auction: Valuables worth Rs 1.5 cr sold

The first day of Lalbaugcha Raja auction saw sale of valuables worth Rs 1.5 crore. The highest selling item was the gold thali set that included two glasses, two bowls and two spoons weighing 1.237 kg gold. This set was sold at Rs 40 lakhs. The overall collectives put up for auction was worth Rs 6.5 crore that comprised 4.2 kg gold ornaments and 80 kg silver.

Actress Shilpa Shetty also had donated 21 gm gold necklace to the Bappa, which was sold out at Rs 1.11 lakh. This was purchased by a fan of the actress.

The valuable gifts received by the Lalbaugcha Raja mandal this year includes mushak, gold plates, gada, gold modak, shawl, silver shreephal, gold rings, gold chains, gold house among others.

The auction started at 5 pm on Monday and ended at 9 pm. The devotees from all over Mumbai joined in to take Bappa wishes to their homes. "I purchased Bappa gada of 5.8 gram silver for Rs 2.25 lakh. I am a professional jeweller, and I liked the design of the gada. It looks real and I feel positive aura of Bappa in it," says Nana Vedak, a devotee.

Another devotee, Khushbu Karia said, "I purchased silver modak at Rs 16,000. I am taking Bappa at home in this modak. This is real Prasad for me."
