Officials from the Air India Airport Operation Control Centre (AIAOPC) from Navi Mumbai were on Friday left shocked when they received a call, claiming that an Indian Airlines flight will be hijacked and would be flown to Pakistan. Searches were carried out in the Air India flights.Later it confirmed that the call was a hoax. A police complaint was registered in the matter.
The officials found this quite unusual, as the Indian Airlines do not exist any longer following it's merger with Air India. The information was shared with the superior officials after which checking of flights were intensified. "We have registered an FIR under sections 505 (public mischief by way of rumour) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication) against the unknown caller" said a senior police officer from MIDC Rabale police station.
