According to the police, rackets of prostitution have been running under the name of friendship clubs, massage parlours and escorts. “People running such rackets publish advertisements in the newspapers. We called one of the numbers pretending to be customers. The receiver fixed the deal and asked us to reach Four Bungalows. But later, he asked us to meet at a nearby Mhada colony,” said assistant commissioner of police Vasant Dhoble.

The receiver told the policemen that two girls will meet them in an autorikshaw and told them to hand over the money to the driver. When the autodriver reached the spot, he diverted them to a no entry raod where another man was waiting for them.

When police caught the man who had come to collect the money, he disclosed that the prostitution racket was running from the Mhada residential building itself. “They have taken 20 rooms on rent for women who are into this business and some other rooms for the pimps,” said Dhoble. The police have arrested 13 men who were running the prostitution racket and rescued 22 women.
