In view of the ongoing third edition of IPL, police are keeping a close watch on suspected bookies and various places in the metropolis to check betting during matches.        "We are keeping an eye on betting rackets in the city in the wake of IPL matches," additional police commissioner (crime) Deven Bharti said.        Anticipating betting during the popular T-20 format, senior police officials have asked subordinates to keep a tab on those arrested earlier for taking bets on cricket matches.        Police said the bets worth crores of rupees were placed during previous IPL matches and this time was going to be no exception.        To escape police dragnet and surveillance, the bookies have mostly set up their bases either in the city's suburbs or in neighbouring districts such as Thane and Raigad, they said.        But police were taking no chances and have asked their informers to stay alert, they added.
