A bunch of iron rods on Dahisar East-Andheri East Metro-7 corridor fell on BEST bus number 718 on Thursday afternoon. The bus was heading to Bhayander from Goregaon and was near Thakur Complex in Western Express Highway at Kandivali. Though the iron rods fell on the bus, there were no casualties due to incident.

BEST confirmed that the bus was heading from Goregaon to Bhayander when the incident happened. The BEST also confirmed that there were no casualties. However, this is not the first such incident of iron rods on Metro construction site tilting.

Prior to this, at least four to five such incidents have been reported wherein iron rods have tilted outside Metro corridor, and also at times inside the corridor. A similar incident was reported a week ago on Link Road at a construction site of Dahisar DN Nagar Metro-2A corridor.

The MMRDA in a statement on Thursday said, “In an unfortunate incident near Thakur Complex, Kandivli, a reinforcement cage got slightly bent and touched the roof of a BEST bus owing to sight constraints despite providing with wire sling block from all four sides.”

The statement added: “The MMRDA team working on the Andheri East to Dahisar East Metro-7 corridor immediately removed the pier reinforcement to a safe place. There was no injury caused to anyone. MMRDA has instructed the General Consultants to investigate into the matter immediately.”
