A 38-year-old man fell off from the electrical cable wires and crashed on to the ground from at least 25 feet height near Crawford Market on Thursday. According to police, the man was under the influence of narcotics substance at the time of the incident.
The man has been identified as Javed Ashrafali, a resident of Cheetah Camp at Trombay.
According to the police, Javed works as a cleaner at Crawford Market area. “Javed is addicted to drugs and on Thursday around 11.30 am, under the influence of drugs, he went on to the JJ Bridge and hung on the cable wires. After hanging for some time, Javed fell off the wires and landed on the ground from a 25 feet height,” said an officer from Pydhonie police station.
He added, after the incident the police rushed him to GT Hospital. “Javed has sustained fracture in hand and legs. He said that he does not recollect why he hung on to the wires. Once he recuperates we would question him further,” said the officer.
