The death of a 52-year-old man from Kalyan did not stop his family from giving life to others. The family donated his organs which were quickly transplanted and ended up saving lives of six people in various parts of Mumbai.

On January 3, Pyarelal Jaiswal, 52 from Khadavali in Kalyan, was admitted Fortis hospital, Kalyan, after suffering brain haemorrhage. After four days of treatment, he was declared brain dead by the doctors on January 7.

In their hour of grief, the family members approached the hospital to donate his organs. The medical team explained them the procedure and the family consented to donate Pyarelal's heart, kidneys, liver and corneas.

His son Mayur Jaiswal said his father had always worked to help people in need. "Taking forward his effort to help the community, we consented to donate his organs. This would be his biggest gift to society," Mayur said.

Dr Supriya Amey, facility director, Fortis hospital, thanked the Jaiswals for their decision. "They have enabled life-saving surgeries on six patients with various organ failures," said Amey.
