Mumbai local train latest news: Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope gives BIG update

Mumbai local trains are the lifeline of the commercial capital of India and since the COVID-19 lockdown in the state of Maharashtra and the restricted train services, people have been aching to know when the services will be resumed for all passengers. Now, amid strong demand from activists, political leaders, and the general public, Maharashtra's Health Minister Rajesh Tope said that the Mumbai local trains might get started soon. Health Minister Tope said that train services might resume if the state of Maharashtra speeds up its vaccination process for which the Centre has to supply the vaccines in ample quantity. 

Health Minister Tope also said that Maharashtra districts have been brought under level-3 and that there is a big question of how Mumbai local train passengers will travel. He also added that the workers and journalists are demanding that local trains should be started. 

India.com quoted Health Minister Tope as saying, "If we want to bring the economy back on track, we will have to give utmost importance to vaccination."

As of now, only state government and public administration officials are allowed to commute in the Mumbai local trains. Earlier this week, Congress leader Milind Deora had also demanded that the government of Maharashtra should allow local train travel to those citizens who are vaccinated.

Speaking about the same, Health Minister Tope informed that Maharashtra is the state in the country that has done maximum vaccination. 

"In the districts where the second dose is left, more attention will have to be paid. Attention will also be paid to the districts where the infection is high. Also, the districts which are lagging in vaccination will have to be taken forward," he said.
