A 34-year-old journalist and his wife had never thought that complaining about playing loud music would lead to him and his wife being assaulted. According to the victim’s complaint, the accused also stripped him naked after assaulting him.
The victim Swapnatanu Saha, from Tilak Nagar and his wife Mandakini, 32, were assaulted by four to five people, who barged into their residence on Sunday night and also robbed the place.
Saha said, “I was having dinner when the accused Sanjay Singh, 34, rang the door bell. I opened the door and he asked me if I had complained about him to his landlord. I told him that we can talk in the morning as it was too late and shut the door.”
He added, “He again knocked on my door and this time Singh’s wife barged into my flat. She started abusing and assaulting my wife. By then Singh and three other people started assaulting me. They did not stop till they stripped me naked and also took away my wife’s gold chain.” Saha and Singh have been neighbours for some months now, on Sunday Singh was playing loud music due to which Saha got disturbed and called Singh’s landlord to complain on Sunday afternoon. Post this the landlord had told Singh to mend his ways as his actions were disturbing other residents of the society. This enraged Singh and he then with his wife and other unidentified people attacked Saha and his wife.
“We have arrested Singh and action is being taken against him under section 151 of the Bombay Police Act. Also the search is on for the other people who had attacked Saha and his wife at their residence,” said a police officer from the Nehur Nagar police station.
