The Mahatma Phule police in Kalyan arrested a 39-year-old jobless teacher for allegedly breaking into residences by befriending unknown persons. The teacher has been held with valuables worth Rs7.25 lakhs and has confessed to 4 house break-ins.

According to Mahatma Phule police, the accused, Nileema Sodhi, a teacher at a private school became jobless after the school was shut down. Sodhi indulged in breaking into residences when she befriended a lady, broke into her residence with a duplicate key, and decamped with valuables worth Rs7.25 lakhs.

"We have arrested the lady for theft and house break-in and she has confessed to the crime. She was arrested earlier as well. We are investigating further and are recovering the valuables stolen", said DN Pandhare, Senior Inspector.

"We will question her in custody as we suspect that she has indulged in several such crimes" Pandhare added.
