A 28-year old gym owner has been arrested by the Nehru Nagar police on Saturday for allegedly outraging modesty of 29-year-old housewife and assaulting her in front of her nine-year-old son.
He has been identified as Vicky Mohan Dhotre, a resident of Kamgar Nagar in Kurla (E). Dhotre and the woman stayed in the same neighbourhood and knew each other.
According to the police, last month, Dhotre had allegedly grabbed her hand with wrong intentions. She had then informed her husband about it after which her husband had warned Dhotre not to repeat such an act again.
"On May 23, when the woman was at home with her son, Dhotre entered her house, grabbed her hand and force her to accompany him. When she refused he started assaulting her. She and her son then started shouting after which Dhotre fled from the house," said an officer from Nehru Nagar police station.
He added that the woman had then lodged a complaint. "On receipt of specific information, Dhotre was arrested on Saturday. He has been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of IPC," said an officer.
