The scene outside Bandra (East) station is always chaotic — with auto drivers yelling to catch the attention of BKC commuters, and the ones who wish to go beyond struggling to find a shuttle. On Wednesday, DNA visited the station area during rush hours between 5.30 pm and 6.30 pm and found hundreds of commuters rendered helpless and angry with refusals.

25-year-old broker Pooja Urli was one among the many commuters flustered with refusals. "They are refusing to ferry beyond BKC. I have to go to Chembur. In 2 minutes, I have been rejected thrice," she said.

"Tired of this everyday hassle" was Adina Shaikh, a 30-year-old receptionist, said, "They have no regard for our struggles. Neither do they care about senior citizens, children and pregnant women. Many have to walk for 10-15 minutes before getting an auto."

Expressed her frustration, Adina added, "Everyday, I walk out the station area and board an auto from somewhere else. These drivers don't understand how mentally tiring it this. The traffic ward should crackdown upon such errant drivers."

"After a tiresome day in college, we have to go through this hassle every day," said Riya Shah, a BCom student who was waiting for an auto with a group of college-goers outside the station for 15 minutes.
