Home buyers of a building named Tatva in Borivali East will be holding a protest on Saturday forenoon in Borivali East with the demand that they get the possession of their homes. The protester claimed that the developer didn't hand over the possession on time and introduced a new builder without their consent.

The building was being built by Gitanjali Infratech which is associated with Mehul Choksi-run Gitanjali Group. Laxmi Infra Developers, the new builder, said that they aim to complete the project and handover the homes to the home buyers soon. Choksi along with his nephew Nirav Modi is involved in a multi-crore scam.

On Saturday nearly 100 home buyers of the over 150 apartment project will be meeting at Borivali east, where the project is being carried out. They plan to carry out a protest at around 4:30 pm against the developer. They said that when they had booked the flats in 2010 they were told that they'd get possession in 2013, but later it was pushed to 2015, and now the new possession date is December 2018, as per MahaRERA website.

The home buyers have formed an association and 23 members approached the MahaRERA, while 26 filed a complaint with the National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission (NCDRC).

"I booked a flat in Gitanjali's project in 2010 and since then, I am suffering financially. It is difficult for a middle class family like mine to pay a hefty interest to the bank on the home loan for the last eight years, pay EMIs as well as pay rent of Rs 38,000 per month without having the possession of the flat. I am in a deep financial stress," said Vijay Gangrade one of the home buyers.

When contacted, new developer Bhavesh Bhai of Laxmi Infra Developers said, "I can understand the problem of the home buyers, I got involved in the project only in February, I was in talks with Mehul bhai (Choksi) while taking over the project. My aim is to complete the project and handover the possession of the homes to the home buyers. I recently got involved and hence changes at the MahaRERA website aren't yet made, but I wish to complete the project. And for that, I need the support of home buyers."
