Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence recently busted an international drug racket and seized 132 kilograms of Catha Edulis, also known as Mira leaves or Kath leaves valued at Rs 3.4 crore, from Mumbai. The agency is on the lookout for four people who were involved in the drug trade.

Speaking about the operation, a DRI official on the condition of anonymity said, "The said contraband were sourced from Ethiopia and destined to Mumbai, Delhi,Jaipur and Nepal. The said goods were declared as documents and sent as EMS speed post parcels. Four persons have been identified and being tracked who were part of this racket."

He added, "The syndicate is operating on Pan India basis run by foreign nationals having their associates operating from Mumbai, Kolkatta, Jaipur, Delhi and Nepal. Kath leaves and tops are chewed or, less frequently, dried and consumed as tea, to achieve a state of euphoria and stimulation. We have seized the consignment."
