On Saturday, the NM Joshi Marg police arrested a 30-year old driver, who rammed his car into three parked taxis and also knocked down a pedestrian, who is an NRI. The 24-year old NRI has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital.

The arrested person has been identified as Anoop Pandey, 30, a resident of Denmark Tower at Dadar.

The incident took place on Saturday between 5.15 and 5.30 am opposite Phoenix Mall, Senapati Bapat Marg, in Lower Parel.

According to the police, Pandey was driving a Hyundai Verna car (DL-8-CI-4668) at a very high speed and went on to knock down a pedestrian crossing the road. He then hit three parked taxis.

“The police were informed, after which Pandey was taken into custody and the pedestrian, identified as Lucas Davis, was taken to Breach Candy Hospital. We have also seized the car involved in the accident,” said an officer from NM Joshi Marg police station.

According to the police, Pandey was not drunk at the time of the incident.
