Rush hour in the city’s local trains is often cited as the epitome of dehumanisation, but a recent video is enough to restore one’s faith in humanity. It’s a video of co-passengers saving a commuter from falling off a train, right in the path of an oncoming train, which has gone viral.
It is not clear who shot the video of the young woman listening to music while standing by the compartment door, and whether it was done with her permission and knowledge.
The 30-second video, which went viral on Thursday, shows a woman wearing a black-and-white striped tee with headphones on. It looks as if she is singing along or perhaps speaking to a man standing next to her on the footboard.
She seems to lean out of the train – while looking backward – when an incoming train hits her hand and causes her to fall off instantly.
At lightning speed, the man in the red-and-black shirt, and another commuter in a brown shirt grab her as her legs hang between the two trains, just inches above the tracks. The train is seen moving at full speed. The duo pulls her up, even as others in the compartment seem unaware of how closely the young woman missed a painful mishap.
