Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) seized 129 kilograms of MD drug (methylene dioxymethamphetamine), worth Rs 52 crore, from Bhandup area on Monday.

ATS also arrested five persons — identified as Abdur Shaikh (47), Irfan Shaikh (43), Suleman Shaikh, Naresh Maskar (44) and Jitendra Pramath — who supplied these drugs in Mumbai.

All are residents of Bhandup area. ATS found the accused were making MD in a factory in Mumbai and using chemicals for the same.

ATS also found that these accused have the biggest network in Mumbai and Pune, through whom they sold MD drugs among the college students.

According to the ATS officials, on Monday morning accused Abdur and Irfan were found carrying around nine kilograms of drugs in a BEST bus from Eastern Express highway to Bhandup Pumping station bus stop.ATS, based on a tip-off, arrested the duo and seized MD drugs. ATS believes the accused are supplying these drugs to the dealers in Mumbai and Pune for being supplied among college youth.

"Accused admitted to the crime and also revealed the names of others involved. In another raid on Tuesday morning, we arrested other three accused with 120 kg of drugs and also seized cash from the Bhandup resident," said an ATS officer.
