Mumbai: 75 schools all set to start Maharashtra International Education Board curriculum

In the coming academic year, 75 Marathi medium schools across Maharashtra will start MIEB board.

The 75 schools from Maharashtra that got affiliation from Maharashtra International Education Board (MIEB) are all set to start international school from June. Some of them also visited existing MIEB schools to experience how the board works. The other 72 Brihanmumbai Municipal Schools that had applied for MIEB affiliation still awaits a nod from BMC education official.

In the coming academic year, 75 Marathi medium schools across Maharashtra will start MIEB board. This includes six schools from Mumbai city as well. Some of the schools also visited the existing 13 MIEB schools that are started last year to understand its method of teaching and curriculum.

Father Nobert D'Souza, principal of Holy Cross High School, Kurla, said, "We wanted to get an idea how MIEB works and how it is different from other boards so we visited Wablewadi Zilla Parishad MIEB School in Pune. We compared its syllabus with other boards and found Indian as well as international element in it that is suitable for our students. The curriculum is activity and theme based."

Another school official, Rajendra Pradhan, president, DS High School, whose school got affiliaton said, "We went for MIEB affiliation because they have holistic approach towards their curriculum and they are looking at the overall development of the students. MIEB is the only board that provides education in Marathi medium."

Francis Joseph, MIEB, head- development and strategy, said, "MIEB is committed to provide international education using inter-disciplinary approach.MIEB has received BMC schools application but they are not yet evaluated."

Education officer BMC, Mahesh Palkar, said, "Our demand to MIEB is to give affiliation with any charges to BMC schools. We are also waiting to know about their curriculum."
